What services do you Offer at Center Strength?
While there are many pilates studios in town, we are an integrative wellness focused fitness studio that incorporates Pilates, Gyrotonics, Cardio through Indoor Cycling and Movement classes such as Barre and TRX. Plus, centering Therapeutic Massage and Yoga.
While most studios require specific individual service packages, at Center Strength Studios you can vary your fitness routine in a variety of classes through our Variety package option where you can mix/match your class types be it private or group pilates sessions, indoor cycling, movement classes or massage therapy.
In addition, for those of your who like to work out more than twice a week, we offer our Unlimited Monthly Memberships where you can join us for classes as often as you can fit in your schedule depending on your package level. (See our Rates page for prices. Special restrictions apply.) Plus receive 20% off our retail, workshops and retreats.
For those of you experiencing pain or other physical limitations due to injury or strain, we also offer Physical Therapy and Muscle Activation Techniques services.
Who can do Pilates, Indoor Cycling, Gyrotonics, Yoga and our Movement Classes?
Women and men of all ages, as well as children. From peak athletes to people rehabilitating from an injury. Basically, anyone of us who can benefit from developing long, lean, functional muscles, a stronger core, enhanced flexibility, expanded range of motion and stronger cardio.
How do you recommend getting started?
For Pilates or Gyrotonics, we ask that you schedule one of our 55 minute Assessment/Pilates introductory sessions to experience Pilates or Gyrotonics and see if it is right for you. During this session, you will discuss your goals, any injuries or surgeries you have had, and the other types of fitness you incorporate into your life. At this session, you will experience the breathing, and equipment fundamentals. This introductory visit is $35.
If you are interested in moving forward, your next steps depend on your pilates experience. For those of you who are new to pilates, in order to get started on a strong and safe footing we ask that you begin with a minimum of 5 private sessions with 2 to 3 of those private sessions a week for your first two to three weeks.
While you can book private sessions a la carte, our New Client “Get Centered, Be Strong” package includes additional Studio service samplings packaged at a rate significantly lower than a la carte prices. You get to experience our introductory session, 5 private pilates sessions, a one hour therapeutic massage, 50% off a one hour Nutritional Consult with Ellie Kempton, from Simply Nourished Nutrition and one month of our Unlimited Group Movement classes where you can try Mat pilates, barre, dance, yoga or TRX classes (offerings vary by Studio location).
Based on your comfort level with the fundamental movements, your instructor will recommend “next steps” be it a semi-private class (2 persons) or group class (4 to 5 persons) depending on your skill set, particular needs and goals. For those of you who are more experienced, we may be able to move you into a semi-private or group class after your introduction session.
How long is a Pilates, Gyrotonic and Movement Session?
All of our Pilates Sessions are 55 minutes in length.
What can I expect?
There is a saying in Pilates that after 10 sessions you will begin to feel a difference, after 20 sessions you will see a difference and after 30 sessions, you will find that others will see the difference.
What do I wear to a Session?
Comfortable clothing, usually yoga or workout gear. No shoes are required. We ask that you refrain from wearing zippers or buttons, as they are known to puncture the equipment as well as strong perfume.
What is the difference between Private, Semi-Private and Group classes?
Private Sessions are one-on-one: you and an instructor. In Private Training Sessions, you get feedback from your instructor so you can break old habits of movement and retrain yourself in more efficient movement patterns that reshape your body. Private sessions are best for personal rehabilitation oriented needs or those of you looking for one on one training, inspiration and a personalized fitness plan.
In order to ensure you are comfortable with the basic breathing and form of Pilates and Gyrotonics, we require that all new students complete a minimum of 5 Private Training Sessions before joining a Semi-Private or Group Class. We also recommend that our clients in semi-privates and group classes take a private every so often to assess your body’s current needs and move up the challenge level. Some clients enjoy the intensity and results of private training, or need the one on one focus due to injuries and so they stay with this training style.
Semi-Private Classes are two people and an instructor. This is a great option once you understand your body mechanics, how to use the machines, and how to do the exercises that are right for you. This is a good level of training as you move to a new level of mastery and want some feedback as you become more self correcting.
Group Classes are 4 to 5 people in a class. Groups are great for people who are experienced with Pilates and who want a more affordable option to enjoy this wonderful exercise method.
Can I do Pilates or Gyrotonicss if I have had an injury?
Yes. Rehabilitation is our specialty. We have assisted customers with rebuilding strength, flexibility and movement after knee replacements, hip replacements and surgeries. First we ask that you schedule a Physical Therapy session with one of our PT’s. Or, if you have been working with a doctor or physical therapist, it is best to get their permission before starting a Pilates Program. We like to work as a team with your health care providers and seek their recommendations for your individualized program.
Can I do Pilates, Gyrotonics and Yoga while Pregnant?
Yes. Pilates is wonderful for Pre/Post Pregnancy, as it is a gentle, low impact way to support your body, pelvis, abdominal muscles and can assist in strengthening and stretching the muscles you need for delivery and a quicker recovery. We have had clients do Pilates up to their due date and have returned to Pilates 3-8 weeks after delivery depending on the type of birth. We have instructors trained in pregnancy and Pilates as well as a trained Doula.

What are your studio hours?
In general, we are open from 7am until 8 pm Monday through Thursday and from 8 am until 3pm on Friday and Saturday. We have recently began to offer Sunday morning classes at each Studio.
For you early risers, we also have some 6am availability upon request and do our best to accommodate requests outside our typical studio hours.
What is Your Cancellation Policy?
As we remove availability from our instructor’s schedule and ensure they are paid for their scheduled sessions, we ask that you please give the studio and the instructor 24 hours notice if you cannot make a reserved appointment so we can schedule an alternate client if possible. If the appointment is cancelled less than 24 hours in advance, your account will be billed for the full session.
